Cinema Paradiso: Closed

If a restaurant fails and no one's around to hear it, does it make a sound? No one's really sure, but what's for sure is that another casualty of the sickly economy struck Astoria this week as Cinema Paradiso closed its doors on 35th Ave. The palace of marinara and mozzarella was a fixture of Kaufman's studio scene but always seemed to have more busboys than customers. With the area's freshly-minted corporate titans peppering the landscape (Applebee's, Starbucks, Pizzeria UNO), the smart money's on an Outback steakhouse to take Cinema Paradiso's place. Foster's: Australian for tears.

I always wanted to check that place out, never made it. Wasn't really...inviting.

Yeah. The food there was not good at all. The decor was ugly and the staff was rude. I don't think you can blame this on the economy.
